| Treatment Therapy is based upon the disease concept of Alcoholism/Chemical Dependency. We know that Chemical Dependency is a disease that adversely affects the mind, body and spirit of the abuser. We understand that it also significantly impacts one’s family and friends. While in the COMTREA Athena Outpatient Program, our clients’ strengths and limitations are professionally assessed. An individualized treatment plan is developed. The whole person is considered. Tools to achieve the identified goals include alcohol and other drug education, individual and group therapy, and family counseling. Of special importance is the identification of “triggers” which interfere with recovery.
Clients also have priority access to psychiatrists, case managers,
counselors
We understand that addiction is also a family disease. Families who live close enough to participate
in family counseling and weekly lectures and discussions are encouraged
to do so. Family participation
in Al-Anon is also encouraged. |
